Peaceful Companions

Recently rediscovered these mysterious drawings while looking through a batch of our sketchbooks from long ago. Although neither of us can quite recall the exact inspiration for this series, we remember its name -- the Peaceful Companions Collection. We've come across well over thirty of these similarly-themed sketches. Each piece of artwork consists of one very relaxed mammal, and one fashionably-dressed human companion. Some additional pieces of the puzzle; all of the animals have halos, and most the people seem to be wearing socks...

Familiar Sights With New Eyes

This new artwork (created today) is based on one of the earliest Challis & Roos creations. A few decades ago, in the attic bedroom of a quirky boarding house on Seattle's famed 18th Ave NE, a couple of newly-acquainted artists captured the nighttime alleyway shadows cast on their rented wall. That initial artwork (3 feet by 9 feet--done on bargain basement butcher paper with crumbling, flaky sticks of pastel and charcoal) has been recently unrolled, and is currently hanging on Ian and David's studio wall. It serves as a direct inspiration for today's version of "Asher's Wall."
